The Miami Open is currently in full effect and running through April 3, with endless tennis matches for fans of the sport to go watch. Many tourists and locals also flock to the event – in Key Biscayne – to see what it’s all about. Obviously it’s mainly about watching some of the best athletes like Serena Williams and Rafael Nadal do their thing on the court, however, many look forward to activities to enjoy whether it be with kids, family or friends.
Here are five things to do at the Miami Open that don’t involve watching a tennis match:
1. Play some foosball
There is a sandbar on location filled with stations for family fun. Foosball and air hockey – within other activities – are available for both adults and kids to hang out and play. Alongside, there are food trucks selling pizza, grilled cheese sandwiches and burritos.
2. Shop at the Lacoste tent
If you like Lacoste gear, get ready for an array of clothes within their tent. Being that the lifestyle brand is the Miami Open’s official sponsor, they have a tent packed with clothes, shoes, hats, t-shirts and any type of gear imaginable. All their latest styles and collections are there for shoppers to get a hold of. Lacoste Eyewear in partnership with Lacoste is the gold sponsor of the Miami Open. They have a separate pop-up shop for those seeking to buy some shades.The partnership lasts through 2019.
3. Grab a glass of champagne
Care for some tennis with a side of champagne and sushi? TheMoët & Chandon tent is serving drinks and sushi from Sushi Maki. Visitors are seen lounging on low chairs and coffee tables, while they enjoy table service. Moët is offering their “Afternoon Ice” cocktail, made with grapefruit juice, St. Germain and mint. The drink was created in honor of the tournament. There is also a Moët Moment photo booth full of props such as rackets and champagne bottles for visitors to snap a selfie #doitforthegram.
4. Stop by the video game tent
Children get in line and wait for their chance to play a tennis match with a movement sensor that captures their waves and hits, giving them a match-style experience. The children to receive the highest score get special prizes such as meet-and-greets with some of the professional players and spending the day on the court like a pro.
5. Feed the sweet tooth
The Ben & Jerry’s tent not only has ice cream and milkshakes, but also loads of candy, gummies and desserts. Some go for the champagne and others for the sweets. Some go for both?
