Enrique Iglesias, Romeo Santos and Nicky Jam among the top finalists for 2016 Billboard Latin Music Awards

The “king of bachata,” Romeo Santos, is also looking like the king of the 2016 Billboard Latin Music Awards.

The Dominican singer, songwriter and producer is taking the lead for most nominations, with 12 entries in various award categories for the evening.

Santos, is followed by Spanish singer Enrique Iglesias, who has 11 entries and is at a tie with reggaeton star, Nicky Jam.

“I always try to make a copy of the awards and send them to my mom in Dominican Republic, and I save mine at home, but I also make another copy because I have two homes: Colombia and Miami, but the original award I leave in Colombia,” said the “Travesuras” singer, whose nominations include Artist of the Year, Latin Rhythm Song Artist of the Year – Solo and Hot Latin Song Artist of the Year – Male.

Nicky Jam will also be performing at the show and will be soon going on his first tour in the United States.

J Balvin, who has recently been seen performing with Justin Bieber and has hit the top of the music charts non-stop with his hit Ginza, has eight nominations. Mexican singer, Juan Gabriel has seven and so does the rock band Maná.

Marc Anthony and Ricky Martin follow with six entries.

The event, hosted by Gaby Espino and Pedro Fernandez, will air live on April 28, at 8 p.m. eastern time.
