WEAR

Want to be in? Try a choker. The trendy and diverse lace, bead and metal-filled necklace pieces have been seen on various celebs over the last year including the Hadid sisters, Gigi and Bella, and Olivia Wilde at the Oscars. Though chokers date back to the 19th century as a fashion statement, they recently made a major comeback and are being worn with all types of outfits. Some pair them with jeans and a T, while others get them custom made, like the diamond Lorraine Schwartz choker Kim Kardashian wore to Dave Grutman’s wedding (reportedly a push present from Kanye). DIY types: Rex Fabrics in Coral Gables sells luxury pieces by the yard ; Forever 21 also has a wide selection.

TRY

Metallics continue to make a statement this coming season. No matter what time of year, a silver or gold dress never fails. The theme of last week’s MET Gala, “Manux x Machina: Fashion in An Age of Technology,” had most celebs waltzing the red carpet in bold, shiny, glittering, cutting-edge pieces. The elegance of a gold, silver or bronze-colored garment has no expiration date. Keep in mind silver caters more to cool-toned skin types, such as Angelina Jolie’s, while gold and bronze colors cater to warmer tones, like Beyonce’s.

Puma is still rising in the street-style scene, after Bad Gal Riri — or as we know her: Rihanna — took over as creative director of the sportswear line, using her last name Fenty for the line. Hitting big in the sneaker market, the singer created Puma’s very own version of the Creepers, which were dubbed by whowhatwear.com as what “all the models are wearing.” First it was Nike with their Air Maxes, then Adidas stole the show bringing back their shelltops, now known appropriately as “Superstars.”
